This category includes submissions that examine environmental, economic, or social issues affecting Indigenous Peoples, communities, lands, and knowledge systems. Topics may include Indigenous stewardship and governance, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), food sovereignty, cultural relationships with ecosystems, or the impacts of environmental change on Indigenous communities.

Use this category when a submission:

  • Discusses Indigenous Peoples, communities, or Nations as central stakeholders in environmental or economic issues.

  • Examines Indigenous knowledge systems, stewardship practices, or governance related to land, water, or ecosystems.

  • Analyzes environmental impacts on Indigenous livelihoods, food systems, or cultural practices.

This category should be used when Indigenous perspectives or impacts are a meaningful part of the analysis, rather than only briefly mentioned.
