  • Future Earth: A Student Journal on Sustainability and Environment

    “Future Earth: A Student Journal on Sustainability and Environment” is dedicated to advancing the discourse in sustainability. The mission is to foster a multidisciplinary platform where students from diverse academic backgrounds can contribute to sustainable development, environmental conservation, climate change, social and economic issues, emerging green technologies and many more topics. The journal seeks to educate, inform, and inspire the next generation of sustainability leaders and practitioners. The goal is not only to serve as a repository of knowledge but also to empower student voices in shaping a more sustainable future.

    The scope of “Future Earth” encompasses a broad spectrum of topics within the realm of sustainability. This includes in-depth explorations into environmental conservation, with a focus on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and natural resource management. The journal welcomes research on sustainable development, covering critical areas such as urban planning, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and green technologies. It addresses the pressing issue of climate change, discussing climate policy, mitigation strategies, adaptation plans, and the concept of climate justice. Social sustainability is another key area, exploring equitable resource distribution, sustainable community practices, and social responsibility. The journal also examines economic and financial sustainability with economic models, as well as corporate sustainability practices. Lastly, it highlights the role of innovative technologies in advancing sustainable development goals, showcasing emerging solutions and their potential impact on sustainability.

    The journal seeks to publish high-quality research articles, case studies, opinions, commentaries, review articles, and book reviews that explore a wide range of topics related to sustainability, including but not limited to:

    • Sciences including Natural Resource Management
    • Education and Social Work
    • Humanities and Social Sciences including Law.
    • Nursing and population health.
    • Business Administration
    • Tourism Management.
    • Trades and Technology.

    Submissions are expected to be well-researched, scientifically rigorous, and contribute meaningfully to the field of sustainability. The journal strongly emphasizes innovation, originality, and rigor and encourages submissions demonstrating critical thinking, analytical skills, and creativity. The journal aims to provide a valuable outlet for students to share their research and contribute to advancing knowledge. In addition, research related to sustainability issues and practices of indigenous communities is strongly encouraged.

    Finally, we encourage faculty members to participate by submitting the best student(s) papers in their courses with the students’ consent or inviting students to submit their research for publication to the journal. The journal welcomes research conducted for the TRU undergraduate research conference.

  • PHP Dialogues

    Working in conjunction with the PHP (Philosophy, History and Politics) Conference, the Dialogues academic journal gives undergraduates an opportunity to publish their research and share their work with other students and scholars. The editorial committee of Dialogues is comprised of fellow undergrads and faculty mentors, who work diligently with students to prepare their papers for publication. Dialogues is dedicated to serving and supporting undergraduate research efforts and scholarship.

    The KPU Open Education Newsletter provides a snapshot of the latest developments in Open Education at KPU.

    Open education is a philosophy about the ways in which people should produce, share, and build on knowledge. Proponents of open education believe everyone in the world should have access to high-quality educational experiences and resources and work to eliminate barriers to this goal.

    KPU supports a wide range of open educational practices, including the creation, adaptation, and adoption of open educational resources (OER) as part of our Zero Textbook Cost initiative, the design and implementation of renewable assignments and other forms of open pedagogy, and training and support for open education research. These initiatives are led by the Associate Vice Provost, Open Education and guided by the Open Education Working Group.

  • Current: Design Research Journal

    Current is a multi-platform design journal that exists to showcase creative, practice-based and applied research. It functions as a site for design researchers, design academics, students, professional designers, entrepreneurs, and the business community to reflect on contemporary design thinking—products and processes. Through a variety of forms and formats—interviews, case-studies, critical essays, reviews and photo documentation, we challenge researchers to represent their processes as iterative cycles of research and to skillfully navigate information-led/practice-led methodologies. Current is continually evolving exposition on the people and processes involved in design research. It is a platform for the cross-disciplinary, cross-sector professional communities of people with educational and professional interests in the currency of design thinking.
